Drink and Draws; Faminelands

As many of my fans know, I’m hard at work on Faminelands 3: Mareton’s Curse. I could not believe it when I realized that I have over 70 pages of pencils and inks completed! whew! Then I realized that I had done all the battle scenes but there was not the transitional scenes. They were missing. Whoops! I better get on that.

Last night I attended Jet City’s Drink and Draw Social Club at Cinnebarra in Montlake Terrace. These are organized by the same good folks who put on Emerald City Comic Con and Jet City Comicbook show.

Getting together every few months like this really proves how close-knit the comic book community truly is in Seattle. The only thing I’m going to say: is it’s really weird to be the only woman artist present. (Not the only woman; just the only woman artist.) This has now happened three times.

Come on, ladies, I know you’re out there.  I see you at conventions.  You can be anywhere in your career to enjoy a drink and draw. I’m still a nobody who has written three comics. Even if you feel weird about drawing in public in front of some more experienced artists and writers; you should still come for the community. Personally I drank a root beer float, drew two pictures. I learned about four conventions that I didn’t know about last night. Then sat around and joked with some very fine people.

They have events every few months or so.
