Cardiff and South Wales

I love Wales. Of all the places I visited, I found Wales one of the best. Maybe because it is looked over so often.

This is Caerphilly Castle. Here is me inside and the next photo is of the castle from the outside. It was hard to get many good shots of the whole thing because it was raining so hard.

I got really lucky in Cardiff. I went in and signed up for a walking tour with a local historian. 5 pounds for 2 hours and we walked all over the city, but that isn’t what made it awesome. What made it awesome was I ended up being the only one on the tour so I was able to ask a ton questions. Cardiff is interesting because though it was settled for nearly 2000 years, it was really a backwater medieval town until the industrial revolution. It’s history sounds almost more like an American city. Still this is Cardiff Castle: a motte and bailey style castle (which was restored in the Victorian age)

This dragon lives in the Bute Park which is next to the Castle. The whole thing used to be owned by the Butes but after the demand for coal dried up they gave the park and the castle to the people of Cardiff.
