Home again and the Traveling Solo round up

I am home again. I am glad to be home. When I flew into Seattle it felt as if I just pulled off my hiking boots and put on a pair of soft comfortable slippers.

It feels good to sleep in my own bed, beside my sweet husband who I missed so much in the month I was away  and with my dogs pressing against my legs since they never want me to leave them again.

It feels like I was in fairy land. I had no real problems while I was away.  I was primarily in countries whose at least one of their languages is English (though of course not all the words are the used the same.) Still Iceland, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales are not my home. I am glad to be back in America.

There are two really great reasons to travel alone. 1) I had to learn to handle everything from catching the train, getting lost, dealing with my budget, etc. When I missed Dennis– I couldn’t rely on a travel companion to keep me upbeat. I had to make myself happy. I had to be comfortable in my own skin. To know that I can handle all of that with only the occasional bump in the road is a good feeling

2) And most importantly: I was always fully where I was. I was able to learn things and experience the wonder of a place. There was no barrier of babble to stop me.

I will use Stonehenge as my example. There is a path around the stones. More than once, I came across people complaining about their boyfriends or whatever. They could not experience the magic of the place if they cannot learn silence.
