For those of you who have cable/satellite/whatever, you might be thinking: what’s the big deal? It’s on BBC. Answer: I don’t have cable. I watch TV either over HULU or on DVD. I also don’t have a car which is probably weird since I love this show.
BTW I don’t care about any other country’s–including our own Top Gear–I like the BBC’s. This is a relaunch of the original 1/2 hour program (now referred to as the Old Top Gear) Both Clarkson and May were on the original show at different times and apparently many of the other announcers went to a show called Fifth Gear though I have never seen that.
Back to my story. On Sunday, I went to my writing group while Dennis went out adventuring in the wild land which we all know as Target. I gave him a bit of a list of the boring stuff first-worlders like us need: dishwasher detergent, paper towels, Flintstones vitamins, etc… when I got home, he had also bought Top Gear Season 16 on DVD.
We are now trying to ration them a little bit. Only watching a few episodes a night. When the three guys tried to build a snowplow out of a combine, it was actually pretty interesting. Though of course they found ways to muck it up including light someone on fire.
Still my favorite bit is the “Star in a reasonably priced car” especially the interview with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. They seem like real friends even in an interview.
